| Chamber
music groups take children playing any instrument, whether they have
learned it at EYM or elsewhere. Children of similar ages and stages are
put into groups of between 3 and 6 players of varying instruments.
These classes are open to string players, woodwind players, brass players,
pianists, guitarists or harpists. Before a child is ready to benefit
from chamber music, (s)he must be secure enough both musically and
instrumentally, to be able to play his/her own part, while other members
of the group play different parts. Individual instrumental teachers
would be able to advise whether an individual child is ready for
this.
Chamber music groups
are open to children in P5 and above; there is no upper age limit,
although currently the oldest pupils are 15.
Classes are coached
by Mary Robb or Jean
Murray.
