| String orchestra is designed to take over where the violin, viola and
cello classes finish. When children decide, after two years of learning
one of these instruments in an EYM group, that they would like to have
individual private lessons, they can continue playing in a group by
joining the string orchestra. This would normally be at P5 level.
Depending on numbers of children and range of levels, there are sometimes
two string orchestras, junior and senior. String orchestra is also open to children of similar levels,
who have learned their instruments outwith EYM. There is no upper
age limit, although currently the oldest pupils are 13.
The orchestra is conducted by Anne Giles.
